What you’ll do

Come and hear Dr Katherine Harvey discuss her research on parasites in medieval Europe. Beginning with a Wellcome manuscript, she will explore medical theories and treatments, and uncover medieval attitudes to nits, lice and worms. Following her paper there will be an opportunity for you to discuss her ideas.

We’ll be in the Viewing Room. It’s next to the Library entrance on level 2, which you can reach by taking the lift or the stairs.

Place not guaranteed

About your speaker

Katherine Harvey

Dr Katherine Harvey is a medieval historian based at Birkbeck, University of London. She is the author of ‘The Fires of Lust: Sex in the Middle Ages’ (Reaktion, 2021), a Sunday Times Paperback of the Week. Her writing has appeared in publications including BBC History Magazine, History Today, The Sunday Times, The Times Literary Supplement, and The Atlantic.
