Our free visitor cloakroom is on level 0 behind the information point.
The free cloakroom facility is located just beyond the lifts and stairs, near the ground-floor toilets. You will not need a deposit. When you check in your items, you will be given a returnable token in exchange, which you can then use to reclaim your things.
If you are visiting the exhibitions, you will need to leave luggage and umbrellas in the cloakroom. If you are visiting the library, you will need to leave your coat and bags in the cloakroom or lockers, where you can find transparent plastic bags to help you to carry laptops and notebooks.
Bag size limitations
You can check in luggage and bags that are standard ‘carry-on’ size or smaller. Any bags larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm cannot be stored in the cloakroom and will not be permitted into the gallery spaces for safety and security reasons.
We can make exceptions for baby buggies and over-size bags containing necessary medical equipment, or for use in nursing and baby care, as long as you agree that these items may be searched on entry.
Bicycles and scooters
You can chain bicycles and folding bicycles to the bicycle racks in front of the building. You can store folding scooters in the cloakroom.
A small number of lockers are also available for Library users and you can find them in the Library foyer. Any item still in the lockers at the end of the day will be treated in the same way as lost property and will be left with security.
Other places to store luggage nearby
Luggage storage facilities are available nearby at Euston Station near platforms 16-18 and King’s Cross Station in the main concourse.
