We want you to feel included in all that Wellcome Collection has to offer. Our ongoing commitment is to make our building, services and programme as accessible and inclusive as possible, removing and reducing barriers to visiting us.

Our staff are friendly, aware of the diversity of visitors’ access requirements, and are here to support you in your visit. We welcome your feedback on your experience here.

Step-free access

All the floors in Wellcome Collection have step-free access, although access may be limited for larger wheelchairs and mobility devices in some areas.

Wheelchair users

We have a wheelchair-accessible building. If your wheelchair or mobility device is 75cm or wider, access to certain areas of the building may be limited. Please contact us if you have a larger device and we can help you plan your visit.

We also have wheelchairs available to borrow during your visit – just ask at the Information Point on the ground floor. Or call us in advance if you would like to reserve a wheelchair.

Accessible toilets

There are accessible toilets on all floors. There is a Changing Places toilet, and an accessible baby change toilet on the ground floor.

Assistance animals

You’re very welcome to bring along your assistance animals.

If queuing is not accessible for you, please speak to a member of staff and we can make arrangements with you.

Blue Badge parking

We have parking bays for Blue Badge holders. Please call or email us before your visit to book a space.

Our Blue Badge bays are in our underground car park at 42 Gower Place.

Gower Place is one-way. You drive into it from Gordon Street or Endsleigh Gardens. Halfway along Gower Place on the right-hand side, just past the goods entrances, there are two silver car lifts. The lift you need is the furthest to the left. It has a sign for Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection.

When you arrive, please press the buzzer marked ‘security’ or call 020 7611 2222.

There are also Blue Badge parking bays near us. Blue Badge’s London map has more about this.

Visual access

You can borrow a magnifying glass or magnifying sheet from the ground-floor Information Point.

We also have large-print label guides for our permanent exhibitions and some temporary exhibitions.

There are Braille labels for and tactile reproductions of some of the objects in 'Medicine Man'. They’re in special drawers set into the gallery walls.

You can download or stream audio descriptions of every exhibit in 'Being Human', plus a highlights tour of 11 stops with optional directions in between.
