Samuel Thomson was an American herbalist and naturopathic physician. As the founder of the "Thomsonian System" of medicine, Thompson discovered or popularized many Western herbs that are still popular today such as cayenne pepper or capsicum, lobelia, bayberry root bark, or myrrh gum
