Segment 3 Foreign bodies in the eye. How to tackle this common injury; all the required equipment is set out on a table. The person who is carrying out this operation washes their hands. Depending on where the foreign body is, the patient has his eye lid everted. A foreign body is pushed out of the eye by a fold of clean paper when in the lower lid. The eye is then bandaged. The eye lid is folded over a stick (or matchstick) for foreign bodies in the upper lid. Usage of the foreign body needle is shown. Antiseptic eye drops are used. A pressure bandage is applied.
