Notes
Etching originally published in De corporis humani structura et usu libri III. Tabulis methodice explicati, iconibus accurate illustrati by Felix Plater. Present in the 1578 edition, not the 1583 edition.
Attributed to Swiss artist Abel Stimmer (1542-1606).
The etching is described by G.K. Nagler in Die Monogrammisten (1860) vol. 1 p. 537 no. 1250 (mistakenly as a portrait of Vesalius) as by an etcher with an unidentified monogram.
