About this work
Description
Dr. George Day of Mundesley Hospital, Norfolk, talks about convalescence and rehabilitation. Whereas convalescence is about allowing the body to heal, rehabilitation is about encouraging the patient to be active in their own recovery and their possibly changed lifestyle. He illustrates his talk with examples of how different hospitals have approached these issues and the effects this has had on patients. He reads a passage from Dickens from which the title of his lecture comes.
