Mr le maréchal de Tallard. Camille de Hostung, comte de Tallard, chevalier des ordres du roy, lieutenant général du gouvernement de Dauphiné a été fait maréchal de France en 1703. Quanti casus humana rotant.
Lettering includes four lines of Dutch verse about the sitter, and a Latin motto (from Seneca, Phaedra 1123) "Quanti casus humana rotant" meaning "How many accidents disrupt human affairs"
