Self-care for back pain sufferers / produced by the National Back Pain Association in collaboration with Inoven, today's answer to pain.

This is an information leaflet issued in 1990 by the National Back Pain Association, a national voluntary association based at 16 Elmtree Road, Teddington, Middlesex whose aim is: better prevention, pain management and rehabilitation for people with back pain through provision [of] information and advice, support and research into appropriate treatments. It changed its name to: BackCare, the National Organisation for Healthy Backs in 2005. The leaflet shows an illustration of a slim man's torso, his arms angled back, hands resting on his buttocks, concentric circles indicating pain and promotes good posture and sensible lifting as a way of avoiding damage to the back and recommends having a firm mattress on your bed to help alleviate any back pain. It promotes the work of the association and was produced in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson, advertising their Inoven Caplets, a brand of ibuprofen painkiller that was taken orally. Johnson & Johnson is a major, international pharmaceutical company based in New Brunswick, New Jersey in America and was founded in 1886 by Robert Wood Johnson and his brothers James and Edward, incorporating in 1887 and establishing Johnson & Johnson Ltd., their British operation, in 1924 at Maidenhead, Berkshire, one of their 200 worldwide companies.
