About this work

Description

Quentin Cooper reports from this years Cheltenham Science Festival which is on the subject of perception. As well as looking at how our eyes make sense of the mass of information and colour around us, we also hear how medical conditions which disturb vision such as synaesthesia occur, and the problems with using eye witness testimonies in court cases. The subject then changes to the differences between human and animal emotions and how each species communicates visually. New research is showing that a sheep can recognise its friend's face from the middle of a herd of sheep. Finally we also hear about how our brains perceptual capabilities mature from childhood into adulthood.
