Description
Low growing plant with ovate toothed green leaves. Lemon scented. Attractive to bees, hence its name, Melissa, the Greek word for bee. Lemon flavoured extract widely used in drinks and perfume industries, and as a culinary herb. Used in sauces, jams, jellies, and soft drinks. Lemon balm tea has been drunk as a tonic and to reduce fevers. Has also been added to pot-pourri.
