About this work

Description

With demand for donor organs far outweighing supply the practice of 'transplant tourism' - where individuals illegally buy life-saving organs from people in other countries - is surging. As Parliament debates changes to the donor-card system, this feature length documentary questions whether the time is now right for this trade to be legalised, and the moral implications of such a ruling. The programme makers bring us face to face with Donald, who desperately needs a kidney and is willing to pay the going rate of $125,000 to buy one.
