C19 Chinese ink drawing: Location of various boils

Ink and brush drawing from a handwritten copy of the anonymous text Dingchuang yaojue (Essential Art of Boils), executed in 1874 (13th year of the Tongzhi reign period of the Qing dynasty). Heding ding ('crane's head' boil) occurs at the top of the head. It is treated with needling and opening (tiaoci) at yintang (Hall of Seals). Diaojiao ding ('hanging corner' boil) occurs at the corners of the mouth, and eryong (ear abscess) on the earlobe. Both these types of boil are treated by needling ermen (Ear Portal, the tragus of the ear)
