Description

This illustration had been drawn from an electron micrograph of cells infected with Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is a member of the retrovirus family that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). As a result of AIDS the immune system is weakened and leads to an increase in opportunistic infections. The AIDS virus primarily targets the T-cells of the immune system.
