About this work

Description

The following episodes from this investigatory medical current affairs series are available:- "Part 3: The General is Dead - Long Live the General"(1994) Shahnaz Pakraven reports on the reorganisation of health resources in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where the reduction in the budget allocated to Newcastle General Hospital caused widespread anxiety in a poor area which had come to rely on its services. There is little public confidence in the prospect of community care to fund-holding because they believe that this works well only if it is well resourced. They are suspicious of its effectiveness when applied to an ageing urban popualtion.
