    Security for my purfuing the Subject with proper Application and Care. I fall therefore proceed, according to the. Method laid down in my late Treatife on Bri^ ftol-Water, in the following Manner. Firfi# 1 fall give a Hifiory of the Waterfrom as. high Antiquity, as any Thing certain can be collected, until this prefent Time $ endeavour mg to few what has been the current Opinion* cf Phyfcians concer?iing it, what Difeafes it has been principally nfed and efeemed for, at different Times, and for what it is now at this Day in Reputation; thereby attempting to give fuch a general Idea of this Water, as may be of Service to thofe who are not yet ac«* quamted with its Ufe and Virtues. And for the better afertaming of fuch Cafes f as Phyfcians may think proper to fend here for Relief I fall in the fecond Place, enquire into the Nature and Caufe of fuch Diftempers as it is found more particularly beneficial to, thereby\ endeavouring to find out what Indications it anfwers, how far if may be depended on in the many different Difi orders it is good for, and how far not..
