About this work
Description
The programme follows Miranda Vicente, who discovered she had breast cancer when 24-years-old and six months pregnant. She had a mastectomy of the right breast followed by radiotherapy and the treatment was repeated a year later when she developed cancer in her left breast. She is interviewed a year after her second mastectomy and she discusses how she feels she has lost her femininity. She decides to have breast reconstruction surgery, which uses skin and muscle from her back combined with an implant. The surgery is shown, and she discusses how she feels physically and mentally after having both implants put in. The strains that the disease forces upon her, her family and her marriage are discussed frankly.
