This film shows a McKee metal on metal total hip replacement operation. When the implant is in place and prior to the wound being sewn up, the leg is manipulated to demonstrate the action of the hip.

One of a small number of film cans (1 of 6) attributed to S. K. McKee in the possession of Mrs Patricia Phillips passed on to the Wellcome Library in 2012. Ken McKee's academic archive was given to the late Mr Hugh Phillips who was a consultant colleague of Ken McKee in Norwich and subsequently became President of the Royal College of Surgeons. McKee was one of the original pioneers of hip joint replacement.
