Described by Haller in 1774 as "Nicolai de Sabio viscerum viva delineatio Venet. 1539 fol. "--On the question whether Haller saw them himself, see McDaniel. Choulant's description was based on Haller
A copy was described in the following booksellers' catalogues: Nicolas Rauch ('Livres précieux.' Geneva, [1961?]); Alain Brieux ('Sciences anciennes'. Paris, [1962]); E.P. Goldschmidt (Cat. 127 'Medicine and science.' London, [1963]) ; E.P. Goldschmidt (Cat. 160 'Continental printed books.' London, [1980]). Both Goldschmidt catalogues include reproductions. That copy was sold to Nihon University, Tokyo
Later impressions were taken from the same blocks in 1587 and 1611
On the relationship of this to other early anatomical fugitive sheets, see Wells (1966 and 1968)
Copy 1 Supplier/Donor: Robin Halwas Note: Numbered 7341, but bound with Valverde: Vivae imagines partium corporis humani aereis formis expressea (1566), no. 7340. Two flaps missing from female figure, supplied in facsimile taken from the male. Sheets trimmed, measuring 37 x 27.1 cm. (male) and 37.5 x 26 cm. (female), and folded.
