Description
Left background, the Queen lies in a large bed with a tasselled canopy and talks to one of her ladies: she is otherwise ignored by those present. Another of her ladies kneels at the foot of the bed holding the baby Prince Edward. In the centre foreground King Edward I opens out his arms gesturing toward his baby son on his right and towards a clergyman and a group of courtiers on his left
