About this work
Description
Universalis Microcosmographia, seu scientia hominis, brevibus tabulis delineata, cum opere physiognomonico physico omnium partium ad exactam temperamentorum cognitionem utilissimo ... In hoc volumine continentur quoque libri: secundus Pathologiam continens, tertius Seimioticem signorum insalubrium notitiam ... complectens, quartus Diaetam sanorum demonstrans ... Author's holograph MS. On the title-page and the half-title are two wax seal-impressions, one black and one red, with the arms of Mallevaud: inside the upper cover are two similar impressions in red. The dedication is dated 1678 and addressed to the Dean of the Faculté de Médecin de Paris. After the dedication is inserted part of a letter signed 'Lapeyronie' (i.e. François Gigot de Lapeyronie [1678-1747]), Premier Chirurgien du Roi Louis XV, and founder of the Académie de Chirurgie in Paris) and dated 13 October, 1737. In the address Mallevaud is designated 'Ancien médecin du Roy dans les Armées d'Italie'. The letter is written from Fontainebleau, and bears the writer's seal in red wax: it apparently concerns a request for some official employment in the War Office made by Mallevaud, though he must have been over 80 years old in 1737. Produced in Bellac.
