    Charges. Extension of Services since 1931. Change of Responsibility. (c) Nursing Expansion of Service since 1933. No charge for the use of the ambulance is made for con- veying patients to> and from the local hospitals, whether “accident” or “booked” cases. This is a free service within a radius of 24 miles. Above this distance a charge is made at the rate of 1/- per mile. In 1948 the Services will be taken over by the Lancashire County C ouncil, whose duty it will be to co-ordinate and administer all the ambulance services in the County, other than those administered by County Boroughs. in the Home. The Chorley and District Nursing Association employs three nurses, whose services are available for home nursing, but not for maternity cases. These nurses are domiciled at the Nurses’ Home, Devon- shire Road, Chorley. The extension of the calls upon the services of these ladies is shewn by the following table.
