Through the looking glass.

What is the reality behind the phenomena produced by magic and imagination? How much of our perception is governed by self-deception? How far does our Western trait of detached observation cut us off from our own nature and our relationship with the rest of creation? Jacob Needleman (Prof. of Philosophy, University of San Fransisco) introduces a programme which invites us to reconsider our idea of our place in the world, with contributions from Arthur Eilson (Emiritus Prof. of Electrical Engineering, University of London), Roger Woolgar (psychologist), and Dom Bede Griffiths (Benedictine monk). Visually, the film ranges from a Viennese fairground to crop circles, the river Ganges, and Tibet, for the ritual of choosing the new Dalai Lama.
