Biographical note

Project Summary:Charles Darwin's career was founded on his childhood fascination with the wildlife on his doorstep. This fascination took him around the world and led to an understanding of life, which has shaped modern science and medicine. It was this spirit of exploration and investigation that led Frederick Horniman to start collecting and open his museum. In the 200th anniversary year of Darwin's birth, 'Darwin: Exploration and investigation' is an opportunity to continue to inspire an interest in the natural world, offering an exciting programme of learning activities, resources and events based around our world class natural history collection, aquarium and gardens.
