Black and white reproduction of an Indian physician identified as Charaka [Caraka], c. 500 B.C., one of the principal contributors to Ayurveda, a system of medicine and lifestyle developed in Indian Subcontinent. The physician is depicted seated underneath a parasol and holding a vessel, and the image has a decorative floral border.
