About this work

Description

Footage of civil defence simulations in three parts. The first shows a partially collapsed building following a bomb blast. It is unclear if this is genuine or a simulation. The second part comprises footage of a man and boy walking in a garden or other outside area. The third section begins with a shot of a sign saying "SCC Rescue School" [Surrey County Civil Rescue School" followed by footage of a partially collapsed building roof. It is followed by a shot of a sign saying "To be a farmer's girl, Snell Farm, Rowhook, 1940" then footage of people dressed in the uniforms of wardens and civil defence rescue workers queuing at an outdoor tea van and gathering outside. There is then footage of a partially collapsed building roof and shots of the interior of a building, though it is too dark to be able to see much.

The film is undated, the date has been estimated by the cataloguer. The title provided is taken from wording that features in the film.
