Biographical note
Project Summary:Artist Andrew Dawson and Clinical Neurophysiologist Jonathan Cole will make a film and develop a live performance around the theme of how much the hand and its movement can reveal. Our hands help to define us as a species. In the film we will explore the beauty and elegance of hand movements, while also examining the aesthetic and psychological consequences of a variety of impairments. But rather than pathologising difference, we will reveal the grace and beauty that some impaired limbs can also demonstrate. Following on from the successful presentation of 'The Articulate Hand' during the Apparatus season, Andrew will use this project to expand his lecture into a full evening's performance.
