Photograph of an engraving of Pope Pius IX (1792-1878) whose blessings and prayers were said to be followed by misfortune and disaster. The photograph was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in January 1937 (accession number PHO 10195).
