Biographical note
Angela Kilmartin née Mendham is a health campaigner who, in 1971, after suffering with recurring cystitis for many years, founded the U&I Club (Urinary Infection/You & I) for fellow sufferers and went on to publish several self-help guides on the subject. In addition, after a period of unexplained illness in the 1980s and 1990s, Kilmartin began to campaign on the issue of mercury dental fillings, founding another patient support group called Patients Against Mercury Fillings (PAMA) which aimed to inform, educate and encourage patients and dentists to reject mercury amalgams and to choose instead white composite fillings.
