About this work

Description

Henry is an 80-year-old man who has survived two world wars, been married, had children and grandchildren but who is now living entirely alone. However, as this film shows, thanks to the work of the London Borough of Greenwich Health Education Service Henry isn't really alone. We see how his health is assessed, his basic domestic needs can be met and the sort of day centres he can go to for entertainment, meals and even bathing. We see an organised holiday for the elderly to the seaside for a week and look at the options of sheltered housing. This is a moving and optimistic look at life for the elderly if the correct services are maintained by government funding and voluntary services.
