Livre ou régistre de toutes sortes de notes et observations. Author's holograph MS. On the verso of the preliminary leaf: 'Nota. Ce régistre... appartient à Mr Déveille (Claude François) né à Besançon...le 4 fevrier 1770, ancien chirurgien-major, pensionné du gouvernement à la date du premier juillet 1818 avec le maximum de son grade 1800 frs. par an payable par trimestre...' This statement is dated 'Besançon, 1 juillet 1820', and signed. Below is another statement regarding his pension, signed and dated 'Metz, 1 janvier 1823'. Contents: pp. 1-60. Copies of regulations, etc. relating to military hospitals, and the medical services of the French Army, 1800-1803; pp. 61-154. Pharmacopée à l'usage des Hospices civils, des secours à domicile, des depôts de mendicité. Publieé... à Coblentz. 1808; pp. 154-End. Medical receipts, etc., lists of his medical books which he wishes to sell, having now given up practice. Notes on venereal diseases, further medical receipts, personal accounts, etc. The latest entry which can be dated, is that on p. 194, where the author expresses astonishment at the high prices fetched at the sale of the effects of Dr. Barry Edward O'Meara, surgeon to Napoleon I at St. Helena [1786-1836], which was held in London on 18th and 19th July, 1836.
