About this work
Description
This video outlines all the problems of delivering veterinary healthcare to remote and impoverished communities in Africa - exactly the same issues which arise with the human population but with the added complication of finding transportation for the sick animals for treatment. The video uses a number of spokespeople to put forward the case for CAHWs (community-based animal health workers), a number are from organisations such as AU/IBAR (African Union/Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources) which delivers veterinary assistance where the communities need it. An actor, David Mulwa, plays the part of the 'sceptical vet' arguing against giving unqualified health workers access to drugs. His arguments are skillfully countered by the experts in the field. There is also footage in the communities with animals receiving treatment etc.
