    Complete Specification. A.D. 1869.—N° 1850. 3 Fox’s Improvements in Treating Medicinal Oils. suitable for general use are as follows, namely :—Pour ounces of sweet syrup, as for example, the syrup prepared by confectioners; ten grains of citric or tartaric acid ; fifteen drops of essence of lemon or of citron; four ounces of cod liver oil, castor oil, or other medicinal oil, as required. 5 It may be desirable in order to render the mixture more palatable to employ two or more varieties of sweet, syrup, acid,mr flavouring matter in combination with the oil as aforesaid. When preparing the aforesaid mixture for sale I prefer to “ put iff up ” in green bottles or in bottles otherwise colored, each bottle bearing the 10 name of the oil contained therein with the prefix palatable, as' for ex amle, palatable cod liver oil.” Having now described the nature of my said Invention and means for carrying the same into practical effect, I would have it to be distinctly understood that I claim the treatment or preperation of cod liver oil, 15 castor oil, and other medicinal oils employed as aforesaid in manner sub¬ stantially as herein-before described, that is to say, the admixture there¬ with of a sweet syrup, or of sweet syrups of a vegetable or fruit acid, or of vegetable or fruit acids, and of a flavouring matter or of flavouring matters of the kind or kinds herein mentioned or indicated, in order not 20 only to neutralise or disguise the nauseous taste and odour of the said oils, but to render them pleasing or comparitively pleasing to the palate and to the olfactory organs.
