Description

Journal of a trip to Holland, beginning with the time of leaving London (February 12, 1773) and ending with the day of returning there again (March 22, 1773). Author's holograph MS. Illustrated with pen-drawings, jewel (p. 12), (p. 18), sluice-gate (p. 26), compass (p. 27), 'perpetual motion' clock (p. 52), jewel (p. 53). A few additional notes on small slips of paper have been pasted in. Signature 'S.S. Banks 1773' on the title-page, which is probably that of the author's only sister Sarah Sophia Banks [1774-1818].
