There are connections between alcohol, HIV infection, and AIDS: alcohol may adversely affect the immune system, and alcohol may influence high-risk sexual behavior - People with alcohol use disorders are more likely than the general population to contract HIV and similarly, people with HIV are more likely to abuse alcohol
