Description

Correspondence primarily dating from the establishment of the newly combined Department of Eugenics, Biometry and Genetics in 1943. Chiefly relates to matters that are being dealt with by Haldane in the absence of a successor to R A Fisher (the post later taken up by L S Penrose).

Contains the following:

  • Correspondence dated December 1943-Jan [1944] regarding the pre-war size of R A Fisher's former department.
  • Correspondence dated May-Oct 1944 regarding journal subscriptions and permission to reproduce from Annals of Eugenics and the Eugenics Laboratory Lecture Series.
  • Correspondence from the Royal Statistical Society regarding the scope and contents of the Society's library. Encloses a list of publications.
  • Letter from E L Tanner, College Secretary, to Haldane regarding the certification of invoices on behalf of the Department of Eugenics.
  • Three miscellaneous letters from B E Simpson, Ursula Mittwoch and Hans Gruneberg dated 1948, 1950 and 1951.
