Operations witnessed by J. Ward Cousins (performed by Edward John Scott (1812-1857)), Portsmouth, 1850-1852. Author's holograph MS., illustrated with small pen-drawings. Some of the operations were made under chloroform.

Biographical note
At the time of writing he was Apprentice-Surgeon to Mr. Scott at the Royal Portsmouth Hospital. He qualified M.D. at London University in 1859, was F.R.C.S. in 1860 and became surgeon to the hospital in which he started his career.
