090463/Z/09/Z: Visions of Difference

Project Summary:The Royal College of Physicians disability project will examine its unique collection of 17th- to 19th-century prints of people with disabilities and combine historical and contemporary analysis of the historical prints by medical historians and disabled individuals. This will bring to life the nature of the intersection between science and the community and create sustainable opportunities for people with disabilities to comment, curate and take control of images of their lives. The project will result in an exhibition and publication that will increase engagement with historical and contemporary disability issues and encourage audiences to rethink attitudes and stereotypes.
