Biographical note
Project description:Human knowledge relies heavily on sensory input, which allows people to build a relationship with the external world, with each other and with their inner self. Artistic investigations into the nature of the senses play a crucial role in shaping scientific research, by which they are in turn shaped. ‘Art and the Senses’ pulls together scientific, experiential and artistic evidence of the interconnectedness of the senses. Selected through a competition among professional artists working on these themes, the works include an interactive colour and light installation, sound art and ‘smellscapes’, blind drawings and touchable sculptures.
