Description

Reel 3 from this incomplete series features the preparation of the lower extremity amputation stump for the wearing of an artificial limb. The film shows how a thigh stump can be strengthened whilst the patient is still bed bound. Then, in a gymnasium, standing using a strengthening elastic rope or bungee. The thigh stump is bandaged carefully.

This film forms part of a collection of films donated to Wellcome Trust in 2006 by Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton Lane, London.
