Description

Black and white photograph of a mounted plant specimen of Cinchona ledgeriana (or calisaya) with a stamp from the herbarium of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya, Ceylon [now Sri Lanka] dated 1881. The original specimen was lent from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The specimen is listed as exhibit no. 337 in the souvenir catalogue.
