    5 the nervous and muscular functions. Professor Stokes’s admir¬ able experiments on the absorption and discharge of Oxygen by the red corpuscles clearly establish this fact. The action of Magnetism on the human system has been made so public through the unrivalled efficacy of our former invention, The Patent “ Magnetine ” Appliances, as to need no recapitulation. In thousands of homes, in every part of the world, they have established, against professional prejudice, or private opposition, and far beyond the possibility of doubt, that the application of prepared Magnets to any part of the body promotes and assists functional activity, and gives to the de¬ bilitated, the rheumatic, the asthmatic, and almost every other sufferer, a more rapid and permanent immunity from his malady, than any other single remedy could produce. In this state¬ ment, which is within rather than beyond the facts, we are supported by innumerable patients who have experienced their effects. The same influence which Magnetism exercises on the exterior, it may be expected to exercise when taken into the stomach. And when we consider that a proper proportion of Iron in the blood is necessary to the efficient absorption of Oxygen, and the great necessity for the latter in its highest Magnetic quality, we are at no loss to comprehend the efficacy and merit of a remedy which combines in its composition both the properties of Iron and the qualities of Magnetism. The great importance of maintaining a free action of the liver and bowels is now popularly understood. The liver exercises a powerful influence on the body, not only by the secretion of healthy bile, but also in the formation of healthy blood. The degrees of change which the blood may undergo, from a condition of health to one of disease, are perfectly astonishing.
