About this work
Description
The Harvard Teaching Files series primarily consists of material created during Watson’s years as Associate Professor of Biology (1958), and as Professor of Microbiology (1961-1976) at Harvard University. The bulk of material consists of material accrued while teaching several courses at Harvard, including Biochemistry and Biology. Lectures from these courses would form the basis for Watson’s famous textbook The Molecular Biology of the Gene. It also includes departmental correspondence and memoranda, committee files, and other material accumulated by Watson during his time at Harvard University. Records include grades of notable scientists such as Mark Ptashne, Ray Gesteland, Mario Capecchi, and Nancy Hopkins.
